The BR Lydney is a hackamore bridle in English leather: a bridle you ride with without a bit. It comes with the E-Line Anatomic headpiece and stainless steel shanks of 152 mm. Noseband and chin pad are extra softly padded. For riders who ride with a hackamore and pay attention to comfort. Reins are not included.
About this bridle
With a hackamore you work without a mouthpiece. The action runs through the shanks, which work as a lever: when you take the rein, pressure is applied mainly to the nose and the chin, and to a lesser extent to the poll and the ears. The shanks on this model are stainless steel and 152 mm long. That length determines how strong the leverage is: longer shanks amplify your aid, shorter ones make it more direct.
Because all of the action lands on the nose and the chin, padding matters more here than on a regular snaffle bridle. The noseband and chin pad are therefore extra softly filled, so pressure arrives cushioned and no rub marks develop where the leather moves.
The headpiece is BR's E-Line Anatomic model. Its rounded E shape creates extra room behind the ears and spreads the weight of the bridle over a wider surface. The headpiece is softly padded.
Underneath the browband there are protective flaps at the sides, which keep the leather away from the head where the straps come together.
The leather is high-quality English leather: supple, strong and up to daily use. The fittings have a polished silver-coloured finish, which gives the bridle a well-turned-out look.
