The Heiniger Saphir Horse #15W blade set clips at 1.0 mm and is a wide snap-on blade set for riders and grooms who want to clip a horse very short and evenly. You click it onto a Heiniger Saphir or Opal without tools. The wide cut lets you get on faster over the body, while the short cutting height gives a tight, well-finished result.
About this blade set
This blade set belongs to Heiniger's snap-on system. Top blade and bottom blade form one unit: you take the head off in a single movement and click another one onto the machine. That is handy when you change cutting height during the same clip, for instance moving from the body to the finishing work.
The W in the designation stands for wide. The cutting width is more generous than on a standard blade set, and over a large surface such as a horse's body that saves you runs. You need fewer overlaps, which makes the end result more even and gets you finished sooner.
At 1.0 mm this blade set sits at the short end of the Heiniger range. For comparison: the #15 clips at 1.2 mm, the #10 at 1.5 mm and the #10W at 2.3 mm. The shorter you clip, the less coat is left to hold warmth. If you clip this short, make sure you have enough stable and turnout rugs.
One thing matters before you order: snap-on blade sets fit the Heiniger Saphir and the Heiniger Opal, and those two are interchangeable with each other. They do not fit a Heiniger Xperience, Xplorer or Progress. Those machines work with separate screw-on blades, and that is a completely different system.
