The Kentucky Lyon is a show jacket for boys in navy. The light, breathable stretch fabric is water-repellent and crease-resistant, and the tailored cut gives the jacket a neat line in the ring. Available in sizes 134 (9 years) and 140 (10 years), for young riders who compete in dressage or show jumping and want a jacket that can handle a competition day.
About this show jacket
Navy is a rewarding colour for a young rider: classic enough for the ring, but slightly less severe than black. The Lyon combines that classic appearance with a fabric built along technical rather than formal lines.
The stretch fabric is light and breathable and moves with every movement in the saddle. With children that is a real advantage: they rarely sit still, and a jacket that pulls across the shoulders is quickly felt as a nuisance. With four-way stretch the jacket follows the movement and then returns to shape, whether it is a dressage test or a jumping course.
Two properties make this jacket particularly practical for parents. The fabric is water-repellent, which helps during a shower at the venue, and it is crease-resistant. After the drive there or half a day folded in the bag, the jacket still looks neat, with no ironing session in the car park.
The cut is modern and tailored, geared to young riders. The Kentucky details stay understated: a tone-on-tone logo you only notice up close, and neatly finished buttons. That way the jacket looks smart without looking grown-up.
