The Kentucky Wellington 3D Logo & Cord fly hood is a hand-knitted fly hood that keeps flies away from your horse's ears while you ride. You recognise it by the 3D logo at the front and by the fine cord running along the edge, which brings out the contrast between the colours. It is made for riders who want their horse to look well turned out in training and at shows. The extended neck section keeps the hood exactly where it belongs, even when your horse is on the move.
About this fly hood
As soon as the first flies appear, riding becomes harder work. A horse that shakes its head or flicks its ears pays less attention to your aids. A fly hood takes that irritation away at the most sensitive spot. This model is listed as a spring and summer item, which matches how you use it: flatwork, warming up and the ring.
The hood is knitted by hand. That gives an even stitch and a structure that holds its shape, also after a number of washes. At the front the Kentucky logo is worked in relief rather than knitted flat. The cord along the edge sets the colours off against each other and gives the whole a finished line.
Around the ears the fabric is stretchy and cut close. The ear pockets therefore sit snugly against the ear without pinching. The neck section has deliberately been made longer, so the hood does not slide back or pull sideways while you ride. That is a nuisance you come across more often with shorter-cut fly hoods.
The model comes in one size, Full, and in nine colours: black, navy, beige, old rose, soft rose, fuchsia, light blue, pine green and purple. That makes it easy to match the hood to your saddle pad, your yard colours or your show outfit. At roughly one hundred grams it takes up next to no room in your grooming box.
The manufacturer does not publish the exact fibre composition; do ask us before you order. What is certain: this is the version with cord and 3D logo, not the soundless one. If your horse reacts strongly to outside noise, a fly hood with soundless lining is the better choice.
