The Premiere Artificial Fur dressage girth is an anatomical short girth in quilted cotton with synthetic sheepskin. You use it with a saddle that has long girth straps (billets), such as a dressage saddle. The soft faux fur sits against the horse, and because the girth can be washed at 30 °C and tumble dried, it is easy to keep clean. Two D-rings in the centre are for draw reins.
About this dressage girth
This Premiere dressage girth combines a quilted cotton outer with a synthetic sheepskin inner. So you get the soft look of a sheepskin girth without animal fleece. The girth has an anatomical shape to leave the front legs room to move.
Its biggest practical advantage is the care. A girth with real sheepskin needs a special wash and gentle handling. This one goes into the washing machine whole at 30 °C and can then go in the tumble dryer. Handy if you ride every day and the fleece soon gets dirty with sweat and sand.
The buckles are stainless steel roller buckles that glide easily over the billets. Girth loops keep the ends of the billets in place. In the centre there are two D-rings for attaching draw reins.
Premiere has two more dressage girths at Maddelin, both without fleece: the Perpignan in soft cowhide and the Drancy in synthetic leather. The Artificial Fur is the only one of the three with a fleece inner.
