The BR Armour chafe guard is a stretchy elastane band that sits around your horse's belly in the girth area, where your leg and spurs make contact. It absorbs the rubbing of the spurs and reduces wear on a freshly clipped coat. It is designed for riders who ride with spurs, particularly when their horse is clipped.
About this chafe guard
If you ride with spurs, you will often start to see on the flanks where your heel meets the horse. On a freshly clipped horse, the short coat wears even faster in that spot. The Armour places a layer of fabric between your spurs and the coat. The band is made from 100% elastane (spandex), a fabric that stretches a lot and springs back into shape.
Because the band stretches so easily, BR says it fits like a second skin and does not restrict your horse's movement. It fastens with hook-and-loop; at the fastening there is a soft faux fur lining. The adjustable clips let you fine-tune the fit.
Within the Maddelin range, the Armour is the simplest option: a fully elastic band with hook-and-loop and clips, without loops. The Zandona chafe guards attach with loops that slide over the girth. The Armour is available in black only, in sizes S, M and L.
