The Cavalor Gastro Aid Liq is a liquid complementary feed supplement with herbs and inactive yeast cultures, intended for daily use. You pump it over the feed and stir it through: one pump equals 30 ml. That liquid form comes in handy with horses that will not take powder in their bucket, or that eat poorly. Within the Gastro Aid range this is the version for daily use at home.
About this supplement
The formula consists mainly of herbs and inactive yeast cultures. The herbs are Gentiana lutea (yellow gentian), Melissa officinalis (lemon balm), Glycyrrhiza glabra (liquorice), Zingiber officinale (ginger) and Centaurium erythraea (common centaury). Cavalor chose a liquid carrier so the supplement spreads evenly through the feed.
The recommended dose is 60 ml per day for at least 4 to 6 weeks, mixed into the feed. One pump equals 30 ml, so two pumps a day. Do not give more than 100 ml per horse per day.
Sound feeding management remains the basis of the ration: enough forage, as few long gaps without feed as possible, and a limited amount of sugar and starch per meal. Gastro Aid Liq is an addition to that management, not a replacement for it.
Wondering which form of Gastro Aid to choose? The liquid version is the practical choice for daily use over several weeks. For short, targeted use, for instance during transport or at a show, the paste is easier, since you give it with the syringe straight into the mouth.
